Exhibit: School of Health Sciences
Martha had the opportunity to attend ɬ’s 2024 Healthfest - a vibrant health science festival designed to give school pupils a glimpse into the wide range of healthcare and health science degrees offered at the University.
Martha said: “Healthfest was a fantastic experience! It gave me the chance to explore the University’s sports hall facilities, where the event took place, and to learn more about the health science subjects available at ɬ. I also had some great conversations with staff members from the School, which really helped me gain a deeper understanding of their subject areas.”
This experience provided a perfect introduction for Martha before she went on to organise photoshoots with students and staff within the School of Health Sciences.
As Martha began organising photoshoots, she found it especially fascinating to sit in on lessons across the School’s variety of specialties. Dropping into different classes allowed her to observe and capture staff and students in action - immersed in their teaching, learning, and hands-on practice.
One of her favourite drawings to create was inspired by a group of six to eight students that she passed while on campus one day, who were each casually wheeling 6 – 8 skeletons down a corridor. Martha loved this so much that she had to ask a student to recreate this action for her. It was a surreal and memorable scene that perfectly captured the unique character of ɬ.
Martha, said:
I watched on with amazement and amusement as these skeletons were walked past me! Unfortunately, I wasn't quick enough to snap a photo, so I was delighted that we were able to recreate this scene while visiting ɬ’s Radiography department!
